Thank you for stopping by in the midst of these unprecedented times.
In light of the current global pandemic and in accordance with the city of Milwaukee's ongoing Safer-at-Home order, I am currently practicing social distancing from my apartment in downtown Milwaukee. As such, I am available for meetings and consultations by phone or video, but am not accepting any new projects at this time. (Let's be honest... no one is producing theatre or live events right now, anyway.)
I am incredibly lucky to have had the support of my day job, whose facilities closed on March 17th but continued to pay us until April 12th. I also am fortunate to have qualified for state unemployment insurance and have been receiving Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), while many of my colleagues who rely solely on freelance work have not been as fortunate.
Support for those who are freelance or independent contractors had been slow to arrive. Luckily, Wisconsin has now begun taking applications for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA). This is a new temporary federal program that provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits to individuals who are not eligible for regular Unemployment Insurance. A massive list of additional resources for artists affected can be found at the COVID-19 Freelance Artist Resource Page.
Finally, if you are able, I would very much appreciate your support of Cooperative Performance, where I have been a proud board member for over four years. This amazing company strives to provide local artists from all walks of life the opportunity to experiment - from creating new and engaging works to exploring complex issues in our community. Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily suspend our programming. Your contribution to our company can help keep us sustained during this unexpected obstacle and keep us on track for another season of opportunity for local artists and socailly-engaging performance for our audiences. Click here if you can help.
Thank you again and stay safe.
